Russell Wayne Henderson

Russell Wayne Henderson, 82, of Summers, Ark., passed away on Sunday, April 22, 2012, at the Willard Walker Hospice Home in Fayetteville, Ark. Mr. Henderson was born June 24, 1929, in Summers, Ark.; he was the son of Lester Samuel and Mildred Mable Henderson. He married Geneva Fern Vaughn in Fayetteville, Ark., in 1949. Wayne retired from the University of Arkansas, where he was employed as a boiler operator. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge of Cincinnati, Ark., and a member of the Eastern Star of Lincoln, Ark. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and running Beagles. Survivors include: wife, Geneva Henderson, of the home; son, Paul Henderson of Bixby, Okla.; two daughters, Linda Ross and husband, Richard, of Summers, Ark., Suzanne Smith and husband, Rusty, of Gentry, Ark.; seven grandchildren, Renee Myers, Stacy Dilley, Nick Ross, Katie Blackford, Russell Henderson, Bryan Smith, Kaleb Smith; and six great-grandchildren, Lucy Myers, Luke Myers, McKeehan Dilley, Zoe Dilley, Stricklyn Dilley, Logan Smith. Wayne was preceded in death by his parents and is survived by many friends and loved ones. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 25, 2012, at the funeral home from 5 to 7 p.m. The funeral service wil be held at the Backstrom-Pyeatte Chapel in Siloam Springs, Ark., on Thursday, April 26, 2012, at 2 p.m. The Rev. Jim Beavers will officiate the service. Burial will be held at Weddington Cemetery under the direction of Backstrom-Pyeatte Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers the family asked memorials may be made to the Willard Walker Hospice Home, 325 E. Longview St., Fayetteville, AR 72703.
