Minnie January

Lifetime resident of Delaware County, Okla., Minnie January went to be with her Lord and Savior on April 10, 2012, at the age of 94. She was the daughter of Watie and Nancy (Snell) Guess. She was born July 2, 1917, in Tahlequah, Okla. She was united in marriage to Lloyd "Bill" January on May 20, 1939. Minnie was a member of the First Baptist Church of Jay. She was an outstanding seamstress; she also enjoyed gardening, shopping, traveling and baking pies. Minnie was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; infant son, Donnie; daughter, Bessie Guinn; one brother; one sister; and granddaughter, Jill Coburn. Minnie is survived by one son, Lloyd January and wife, Cheryl, of Pryor, Okla.; two daughters, Bonnie Amos and husband, Gene, of Stroud, Okla., and Kathy Owens and husband, Larry, of Lowell, Ark.; nine grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held Friday, April 13, 2012, at the First Baptist Church of Jay with Pastors Larry Ellis and Johnnie Faught officiating. Minnie was laid to rest beside her husband at Row Cemetery in Colcord, Okla.
