Roy A. "Curly" Roe II

Roy A. "Curly" Roe II, died on Tuesday, April 17, 2012 at the Acosta Rua Center of Community Hospice in Jacksonville, Fla. He was born on May 1, 1945 in Gassville, Ark. to Ray A. and Wanda Finley Roe. He graduated from Yellville-Summit High School in 1963. He attended UCA where he was a member of Phi Lambda Chi. He graduated from AR Tech U with a BS in Biology. He earned a MS in Entomology from the U of A and did Doctoral work at the University of Florida. He served his country in Vietnam as a 1st Lt., supervising a Mobile Advisory Team. He received the Bronze Star for Valor. He taught in the Gentry and Bentonville, Ark. school systems and later became a Master Rigger and Professional Skydiver, jumping in Oklahoma, Arkansas and Texas. He was credited with having saved several lives, was featured on Wide World of Sports and was a licensed Private Pilot. Survivors include: daughter, Crystal Lin and husband Derek Craig and grandson, Conner Craig of Fernandina Beach, Fla., mother, Wanda Roe, Pea Ridge, Ark., sister, Ramona Roe, Little Rock, Ark. A celebration of life was held on the beach in Fernandina Beach, Fla. on Sunday, April 22, 2012.
