James Robert Loy

James Robert Loy, 73, of Bella Vista, Ark., died Thursday, April 19, 2012, surrounded by his family. He was born May 29, 1938, in Great Bend, Kan., the son of Mabel Flaherty and Herbert Loy. He was the 1956 High School State Golf Champion in Oklahoma. In 1956, he was a graduate of Northwest Classen, and graduated 1961 from University of Central Oklahoma, where he played on the varsity golf team. From 1953 until 1961, he was a golf pro at Lincoln Park Golf Club in Oklahoma City. He was employed from 1961 until 1963 at Phillips Petroleum Company, and from 1963 until 1967, he was employed with Union Carbide. Also from 1967 until 1998, he was employed with Mead Products. He proudly served his country in the United States Army in 1961. He had lived in the Northwest Arkansas area for over 13 years after moving from Plano, Texas. James is survived by his wife, Jayne Loy, whom he married Nov. 25, 1961, of Bella Vista; one son, Col. James R. Loy II and his wife, Laura, of Tokyo, Japan; two daughters, Kelly Loy Kutey of Overland Park, Kan., Stacy Loy of McKinney, Texas; one brother, Wayne Loy and his wife, Jeri, of Dunnellon, Fla.; seven grandchildren, Connor Loy, Lindsay Loy, Maggie Loy, all of San Diego, Calif., Benito Vargas III of McKinney, Texas, Jackson Kutey, Samuel Kutey, both of Overland Park, Kan., and Kaya Loy of Tokyo, Japan. Memorial service Monday, April 23, 2012, at 2 p.m. at Bella Vista Community Church with Dr. Jeff Reed.
