Vera Marthalyne Crockett

Vera Marthalyne Crockett, 89, of Jacksonville, died April 12, 2012. She was born in Ringwood, Okla., on Jan. 11, 1923, to the late Guy and Mary (Wright) Egbert. She was a nurse's aide and waitress for a number of years, but enjoyed being a homemaker, raising her children. She held her membership at Beacon Baptist Church in Gravette, Trinity Baptist Church in Bristow, Okla., and was a current member of Chapel Hill Baptist Church in Jacksonville. On Feb. 17, 1940, she married Birch Crockett, and they were married 52 years at the time of his death in 1993. She was also preceded in death by her parents; daughters, Barbara Jo Potter and Virginia Lea Barrett; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and five siblings. Survivors include her son, Birch David Crockett and wife, Tena, of Jacksonville; daughter, Martha Jeschke of Bristow, Okla.; 14 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; 34 great-great-grandchildren; three great-great-great-grandchildren; and four great-great-great-great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, April 19, 2012, at Mount Pleasant Cemetery near Hiwasse. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Arkansas Hospice, 2200 Fort Roots Drive, North Little Rock, AR 72114. Cremation arrangements are by Callison-Lough Funeral Home of Bentonville.
