Doye Bull

Doye Bull was born Nov. 23, 1926, to Leonard and Antha Humbard Kiper near Green forest, Ark., and died Nov. 19, 2011, in Ozark, Ark. She raised her family with her husband, Dean Bull, in Rogers then moved to Ozark in 1990. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Lloyd Kiper, of Rogers, Ark., and a sister, Juanita Hanby, of Berryville, Ark. Doye had a long and varied life. She began working as a mechanic when she was a teen, first for her father, who taught her at his garage and filling station in Rogers, then for Standard Oil in San Francisco, Calif. During WW II, while sixteen, she joined the Air Force and was assigned to the motor pool as a driver and mechanic. After the service, she raised a family and owned a clothing store in Rogers with her husband, Dean Bull. Earlier in life, she was a pilot, liked to hunt and fish, and later became an accomplished bowler and golfer. She also owned and ran her own business. Most of all, she was a fun and loving mother and grandmother. A private memorial service will be held at a later date. Doye is survived by one daughter, LaDene Turner and husband, Lonnie, of Ozark, Ark.; two sons, Layton Bull and wife, Deborah, of Houma, La., and Greg Bull and wife, Kathy, of Lakekand, Fla., and nine grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. The family will visit with friends and family, Monday, Nov. 21, 2011, from 6 – 8 p.m., at Shaffer Funeral Home, 2315 W. Commercial, in Ozark.
