Gerrit DeBoer

Gerrit DeBoer Gerrit DeBoer, 77 year-old, resident of Siloam Springs, Arkansas, died March 9, 2011 at Westwood Health And Rehab, Springdale, Arkansas. Born October 15, 1933 in DenHelder, Netherlands, he was the son of Klaas DeBoer and Wilhemina Bakker DeBoer. He was an Army veteran. Gerrit was Postmaster in Siloam Springs for the US Postal Service for 16 years as well as five years in Fayetteville, and was a member of the Washington Lodge No. 1. He was an active member of First Baptist Church, Siloam Springs, where he served as church treasurer, deacon, and was a driver for the senior adults. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Maxine Joiner DeBoer; and 11 brothers and sisters. Survivors include his wife, Nadine Canant DeBoer; two sons, Mark DeBoer and wife Meredyth of Spring, Texas and Paul DeBoer and wife Bridgette of Bentonville, Ark.; two step-sons, Mark Canant and wife Tracy of Siloam Springs, and Keith Canant and wife Shannon of Shawnee Mission, Kansas; six grandchildren, Kelsey DeBoer, Gerrit DeBoer, Josie Canant, Weston Canant, Bailey Canant, and Brody Canant; one brother, Klaas DeBoer and wife Sally of Sun City, California; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m., Sunday, March 13, 2011, at First Baptist Church, Siloam Springs, Arkansas, with Dr. Steve Abbott officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery, Siloam Springs. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. at Wasson Funeral Home, Siloam Springs.
