Martha Pauline Taylor May

Martha Pauline Taylor May, 88, passed away Monday July 25th at the Phil and Flo Jones Hospice House in Jonesboro. She was born on October 15th, 1922 in Pocahontas, Arkansas, to the parents of George W. and Margaret Lindsey Taylor. Professionally, she was a nurse, and had a long successful career working in hospitals in Pocahontas and Fort Smith. Martha was a loving mother and housewife. She very much enjoyed big band swing music and sang hymns and gospel songs for pleasure. She was preceded in death by her parents, son Don Gazaway and granddaughter, Kimala Gazaway. She is survived by her husband, T.L. May of the home; sons, Rudy Jr. and Gary D. Gazaway of Pocahontas; stepchildren, Karen McEntire of Southhaven, Miss., Patti May of LaCrescenta, Calif., and James May of Kingwood, Texas; grandchildren, Tony Gazaway and Mikki Ergle of Jonesboro, Candida Mitchell of Pocahontas, Amerigo Gazaway of Nashville, Tenn., and Lindsey Gazaway of Pocahontas; nine great-grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter. Funeral service will be Friday at 10 a.m., at the First Assembly of God Church in Pocahontas with Terry Miller Officiating. Burial will follow at the Masonic Cemetery. Visitation was Thursday from 5-8 p.m. at McNabb Funeral Home. Donations in lieu of flowers can be made to The Phil and Flo Jones Hospice House or The Alzheimer Association.
