Helen Louise Masters, 87, of Mena, beloved wife, mother and grandmother, died Saturday, Jan. 8, 2011, at her home. She was born April 3, 1923, to Velle Poole Wagoner and Clara Belle Brumley Wagoner in Nunley, Ark. She is survived by her devoted husband of 72 years, T. C. Masters; her children, Jerry Masters and wife Karen of Little Rock, Barbara Shepard and husband Mike of Mena, Betty Gilbert and husband Martin of Fayetteville, Tim Masters and wife Lisa of Paris, Texas; daughter-in-law Martha Masters of Mena; brother James Poole Wagoner of Anza, Calif.; sister Ruth Campbell of Mena; 16 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, son David Masters, granddaughter Alyson Masters, and sisters Mildred Shearin and Ruby Lou McCoy. Helen's greatest joy was to spend time with her children and grandchildren. She would call them almost every day just to say hello. Other than being with family, Helen was never happier than when she was in the outdoors. She and T. C. enjoyed fishing, camping and traveling in their RV. They especially loved the many years they spent at Lake Ouachita and Gillham Lake. Helen enjoyed western swing and big band music. She was a member of the Bright and Early Home Demonstration Club. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2011, at 2 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Mena, with Dr. David McCord officiating. Interment will follow in Pinecrest Memorial Gardens with Hall Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Family will receive friends until Monday, Jan. 10, 2011, at the family home. Pallbearers will be her ten grandsons, Jeff Eddleman, Travis Eddleman, Scott Masters, Brent Masters, Jason Masters, Marty Gilbert, Patrick Gilbert, Troy Gilbert, Alex Masters and Neal Del Rio.
