Larry W. Hoaglan, 62, of Pine Bluff, died Monday, February 1, 2011 at home. He was born May 2, 1948 in Flint, Michigan, son of Oliver Hoaglan and Opal Winters Hoaglan Felkins. Mr. Hoaglan was reared and received his early education in Walnut Ridge, graduating from Walnut Ridge High School. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville in 1970. He worked for the Public Service Commission as their chief engineer from 1970-1981. Mr. Hoaglan served as President and CEO of Communication Service Supply Association in Little Rock from 1981 until his retirement in 2008. Mr. Hoaglan was a member of First Baptist Church of Pine Bluff. He volunteered as assistant scout master of First Baptist Boy Scout Troop 106 for 15 years. Mr. Hoaglan was an avid hunter and member of the Kentucky Refuge Hunting Club near Benton. He volunteered as a black belt taekwondo instructor for many years. He was preceded in death by his father. Survivors include his wife, Zelda Selph Hoaglan, whom he married February 6, 1971 in Greenwood, Arkansas; two sons, David Hoaglan of Shawnee, Kansas and Jordan Hoaglan of Fayetteville; mother, Opal Felkins of Bono, Arkansas; brother, David Ray Hoaglan of Henrico, North Carolina; three step-brothers, Leon Felkins of Vicksburg, Mississippi, Jimmy Felkins of Bono and Delbert Felkins of Bono; two step-sisters, Earline Hendrix of Jonesboro and Donice Tyler of Otwell, Arkansas. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Saturday, February 5, 2011 at First Baptist Church with Reverend Matt Norton officiating. Graveside services will be held 1 p.m., Monday February 7, 2011 at Gentry Cemetery in Greenwood, Arkansas by Ralph Robinson & Son Funeral Directors of Pine Bluff. Visitation will be Friday evening from 5-7 p.m. at Robinson's.
