Louise Melton, 90 of North Little Rock passed away Sunday, January 30, 2011. She was born in 1920 in Monroe, Arkansas. She was a member of Park Hill Baptist Church for 61 years where she served in many leadership roles including several terms as president of the Women's Missionary Union. She was a life member of Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. She was a graduate of Arkansas State Teachers College where she was president of her sorority, Alpha Sigma Tau and was a state champion debater. Louise was a natural public speaker, an entertainer, and known especially for her impressions of Minnie Pearl from the Grand Ole Opry. She was predeceased by her parents, P.W. and Virginia Meacham; brothers, Cowan, Kirby and Matthew Meacham, all of Monroe, Arkansas. She is survived by her husband of 69 years, Ellis (Gene) Melton; two sons, Ellis Melton Jr. and wife, Kay, of Fayetteville and Presley Melton and wife Jo, of North Little Rock; daughter, Ginger Smith and husband, Danny, of Russellville; five grandsons, Brian Smith, Jason Smith, Andrew Melton, Mark Melton and Adam Melton; four great-grandchildren; brother, Wiley Meacham, of Brinkley and sister, Barbara Jarvis, of Little Rock. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday in the North Little Rock Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be at 2:30 p.m., in Brinkley, Arkansas at Oaklawn Cemetery.
