Joan Chambliss Buckner, 84, of Pine Bluff, died Monday, December 27, 2010 in Conway. Born in Tarry, Arkansas June 30, 1926, a daughter of the late Howard B. and Veva Dixon Chambliss, she received her early education in Pine Bluff, graduating from Pine Bluff High School in 1942. She attended Arkansas State Teacher's College before marrying Finis Clark Buckner in Pine Bluff in 1946. Mr. Buckner died in 1988. A homemaker while her children were young, she worked at International Paper Company in their human resources area for many years. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, an American Contract Bridge League Life Master, and enjoyed gardening. Survivors include two sons, James C. Buckner (Susan) of Pine Bluff and William L. Buckner (Vickie) of Conway; brother, Dan Chambliss (Martha) of Pine Bluff; grandchildren, Lindsey Pearce, Alice Curtis, Amee Gray, and Casey Rainey; and eight great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Howard Chambliss, Jr. and Harvey Chambliss, and a sister, Glynnis Mack. Services are Thursday, December 30, at 2 p.m. at Ralph Robinson & Son. Visitation is Wednesday from 5 to 7 p.m. at Robinson's. Memorials are requested to the donor's favorite charity. Online register: www.ralphrobinsonandson.com.
