Recommitment Banquet

Those gathering for the "leak" included Kathy and Ed McClure, Kara and Kris Isham, Tanner Pittman and Joseph Farmer, Matt Etris, Brenda and Jason Nemec, Jackie Telfair and Tod Yeslow and Ashley and Patrick Fitzsimmons.
The 24th annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Recommitment Banquet on Jan. 20 at the Fayetteville Town Center featured Fort Smith Mayor George McGill as the keynote speaker.
The banquet wrapped up three days of prayer, community service, a march and other activities to mark Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
The Northwest Arkansas Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Council hosted the event to honor community leaders and award scholarships. Proceeds from the dinner help support the scholarship fund.
Community leaders receiving Salute to Greatness awards that evening were:
• Paul Adams -- Lifetime Achievement;
• Rodger Hunter -- Ernestine White-Gibson Individual Achievement;
• Xavier Smith -- Rodney Momon Youth/Young Adult;
• Marilyn Smith -- The Rev. J.A. Hawkins Posthumous Award; and
• Visionairi Enterprise, Airic Hughes -- Nonprofit/Corporation of the Year.
High school scholarship recipients included Tiffany Wheeler, Callie Neumann, Collin Higgins, Carson Perrenoud, Abigail Herring, Micah Seawood, Maya Davis, Trinity Davis, Kennedy McCoy and Juan "Jace" Kennedy.
Among the college scholarship recipients were Destiny Posey, Shantal Sarmiento, Krislyn Smith, Rafael Toche, April Vincent, Trey Williams and Curtiss Smith III.
