Mayor of Bauxite cited in ethics case

Former Bauxite City Council member Harold Eddie Jones has agreed to pay a $150 fine and receive a public letter of caution from the Arkansas Ethics Commission in a settlement of an ethics complaint, according to records released Friday.

Jones agreed to a finding by the commission that while he was a Bauxite City Council member, he violated Arkansas Code Annotated 21-8-304 (a) in connection with submitting fuel receipts for an amount greater than what he was due to be reimbursed, commission Director Graham Sloan wrote in a letter dated Friday to Jones.

"It is noted that you repaid the city $265.28, which was the amount of the overpayment to you stipulated by the Bauxite recorder-treasurer on November 19, 2018," Sloan said in his letter. Jones now serves as Bauxite's mayor, according to Sloan.
