RJ Barrett (5) of Duke tries to stop Syracuse’s Elijah Hughes (33) from dunking in the Orange’s 95-91 overtime victory over the No. 1-ranked Blue Devils. Hughes scored 20 points in the victory.

DURHAM, N.C. -- Tyus Battle scored a season-high 32 points, and Syracuse used its 2-3 zone defense to rattle No. 1 Duke in overtime as the Orange pulled off the upset, 95-91 in overtime on Monday night.

With swingman Cameron Reddish out with an illness and point guard Tre Jones suffering a shoulder injury roughly 5½ minutes in, Duke was down two starters and was a completely different team -- and the Orange took full advantage.

Paschal Chukwu added 10 points and a career-high 18 rebounds while Elijah Hughes added 20 points, Frank Howard finished with 16 and Oshae Brissett had 14 for the Orange (12-5, 3-1 Atlantic Coast Conference).

Syracuse held Duke to 2-of-8 shooting in overtime and to just 21 percent shooting from three-point range while earning its second victory at Cameron Indoor Stadium in three years.

Battle's jumper about a minute into overtime gave Syracuse the lead for good at 89-88. Duke followed that with four consecutive empty possessions -- three missed three-pointers and a turnover that Howard turned into an easy layup.

RJ Barrett's three-pointer pulled the Blue Devils to 93-91, but Chukwu countered with a dunk from Howard to make it a five-point game.

Zion Williamson had a career-high 35 points and 10 rebounds, and his free throw with 16.2 seconds left in regulation tied it at 85 for Duke (14-2, 3-1), but he missed a second go-ahead foul shot. Brissett grabbed the rebound for Syracuse, but Battle's three-pointer before the buzzer bounced off the back iron.

Barrett finished with 23 points on 8-of-30 shooting, and added 16 rebounds and 9 assists.

PITTSBURGH 76,

NO. 11 FLORIDA STATE 62

PITTSBURGH -- Trey McGowens had 30 points and 7 rebounds, Xavier Johnson scored 16 and Pittsburgh pulled away late for a victory over No. 11 Florida State.

McGowens, a freshman guard, attacked the bigger, deeper Seminoles relentlessly to help the Panthers (12-5, 2-2 Atlantic Coast Conference) end a 13-game losing streak against ranked teams. Pitt's previous victory over a team in The Associated Press Top 25 came against Florida State on Feb. 18, 2017.

McGowens set a school record by pouring in 33 points in a victory over Louisville on Tuesday. He threatened the mark just six days later thanks in large part to going 18 of 19 from the line. Johnson overcame seven turnovers to score seven points down the stretch, including a driving layup with 2:43 remaining that helped restore Pitt's advantage to 65-55 after Florida State cut a 10-point deficit in half.

Trent Forrest scored 19 points for the Seminoles (13-4, 1-3), who lost for the third time in four games. And unlike their setback against No. 1 Duke last Saturday -- when the Blue Devils won it at the buzzer -- this was no last-second stunner.

NEBRASKA 66,

NO. 25 INDIANA 51

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- Glynn Watson Jr. scored 15 points, Isaac Copeland added 14 and James Palmer Jr. to help Nebraska upset No. 25 Indiana.

The Cornhuskers (13-4, 3-3 Big Ten) have now won three consecutive games in the series. Romeo Langford had 18 points and Juwan Morgan finished with 17 on a miserable shooting night for the Hoosiers (12-5, 3-3), who have lost three in a row. Indiana's 10-game home winning streak also ended.

Indiana fought futilely to dig out of a 25-7 deficit midway through the first half.

When Nebraska missed 12 consecutive shots in the opening 20 minutes, Langford and Morgan teamed up to help cut the deficit to 26-20 with 70 seconds to go in the half. And after trailing 31-22 at intermission, Devonte Green's three-pointer with 16:32 got Indiana within 35-32.

But Nebraska used an 8-0 run to reassert itself and closed it out by steadily extended the lead to as much as 16.

SEC WOMEN

NO. 7 MISSISSIPPI ST. 85,

AUBURN 59

AUBURN, Ala. -- Teaira McCowan had 22 points and 10 rebounds in three quarters to power No. 7 Mississippi State's rout of Auburn.

The Bulldogs (16-1, 4-0 SEC) led the whole way and shot 53 percent while holding the Tigers (14-3, 2-2) to a season-low in points.

Mississippi State dominated inside, outrebounding Auburn 43-24 and getting big games from both McCowan and Jessika Carter.

Carter made four shots for 14 points. Neither missed in a combined 10 free throw attempts, six for Carter and four for McCowan.

Chloe Bibby made 3 three-pointers and scored 11 while Jordan Danberry (Conway) had 10 points.
