Razorback Walker pleads not guilty to drug, gun counts

FAYETTEVILLE — A University of Arkansas football player, Demetrius “Dee” Walker, pleaded not guilty to a litany of drug and gun charges Friday in Washington County Circuit Court.

Walker, 21, is charged with simultaneous possession of drugs and firearms, possession of marijuana with intent to deliver, possession of Xanax with intent to deliver, delivery of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. All are felonies.

Walker was given an initial court date of Feb. 26 before Circuit Judge Joanna Taylor.

The 4th Judicial District Drug Task Force used a confidential informant to arrange a marijuana purchase from Walker, according to the preliminary arrest report. A search at Walker’s home on North Futrall Drive turned up more than 60 grams of marijuana, plastic bags and a digital scale, 40 Xanax pills, and an AR-15 rifle with a loaded magazine, according to police.

The 6-2, 212-pound Walker played in all 12 games and posted 17 tackles as a linebacker in the fall of 2018. He was a redshirt sophomore.

Walker was arrested Dec. 12 and suspended from the team.

Walker is from Moultrie, Ga.

He’s free on bond while awaiting trial.
