State Senate vote backs student sunscreen

The Senate approved a bill 34-0 Monday that would allow students to use sunscreen to avoid overexposure to the sun without written authorization while on school property or at a school-related event or activity.

That would be allowed as long as the sunscreen is approved for over-the-counter use under House Bill 1167 by Rep. Lee Johnson, R-Greenwood.

The bill goes back to the House to consider a Senate-approved amendment.
