It's likely Northwest Arkansas will be seeing more of "the Queen of Southern Cuisine," Paula Deen. After all, she'll soon be opening one of her signature Paula Deen's Family Kitchen restaurants up the road in Branson, Mo. Deen promises it will "make you feel like you are in your mother's or grandmother's kitchen eating a wonderful dinner you may not always make for yourself."

But in the meantime, Deen isn't going to allow her fans to go hungry. She's releasing a new cookbook, "Paula Deen's Southern Baking," and she'll be in Rogers Saturday for a book signing at the Walmart Supercenter on Pleasant Crossing Boulevard.

"Baking is near and dear to Paula's heart, and you will feel the love she puts into each of these delicious Southern recipes," says Jaret Keller, a spokesman for Deen. "This cookbook is the ultimate collection of her favorite cakes, pies, sweet and savory breads, cookies, cobblers and so much more.

"Whether you're baking a festive birthday cake, holiday treat, the perfect potluck dish, pastries for breakfast, rolls for dinner, or anything in between, your friends and family are sure to love them all," he enthuses. "From crispy-bottomed cornbread baked in a cast iron skillet and tall, flaky buttermilk biscuits to fluffy meringue-topped banana pudding and carrot cake swirled with cream cheese frosting, these tried-and-true recipes are fit for any occasion."

"My most favorite thing in the world is to get into the kitchen and prepare some food for the ones I love," Deen says. "I want to make whatever they want, and I enjoy them hanging out in the kitchen as I prepare the dinner. It's a time to connect and enjoy each other's company."

Deen hopes that translates to both her new cookbook and her new Branson restaurant.

"There is so much love in a Southern kitchen and the process of creating a meal."
