Three fire victims in Earle identified

Authorities identified on Wednesday three people, including a 5-year-old, whose bodies were found inside a burning mobile home this week, prompting a homicide investigation that is ongoing.

The Crittenden County sheriff's office said Chassidy Brown, 25; her son, Josiah Brown; and Kendrick Jones, 42, were inside the burning mobile home when officials responded just before 1 a.m. Monday in Earle, which is roughly 30 miles west of Memphis.

The sheriff's office is investigating their deaths as homicides.

"We're using every resource available to find out what happened to these people," said Todd Grooms, head criminal investigator for the sheriff's office.

The sheriff's office declined to say whether it had made any arrests.

Grooms said the state Crime Lab will determine the causes of death. A state fire marshal is reviewing the fire's cause.

The Arkansas State Police and federal authorities are helping in the investigation.
