Rogers cardiologist busted for pot

BENTONVILLE -- A Rogers cardiologist and his wife arrested earlier this week were found with 16 pounds of marijuana, according to the McDonald County Sheriff's Office in Missouri.

Robert Joseph Stuppy, 60, and Becky Kay Stuppy, 65, were arrested Tuesday in connection with possession of a controlled substance, manufacture of a controlled substance, unlawful use of a weapon and stealing, according to a probable cause affidavit.

McDonald County deputies and the county's Special Response Team installed cameras on a marijuana growing operation just outside of Pineville, Mo., after investigating a tip in August, according to a news release from Sheriff Michael Hall.

On Sept. 21, the Special Response Team went to gather the cameras and discovered two of them had been taken. They retrieved the third camera. Video showed two people, identified as Robert and Becky Stuppy, taking the other two cameras along with the marijuana plants from where the marijuana was growing, the release stated.

Detectives searched a residence at 590 Hard Drive in rural McDonald County and found the marijuana and a .357 Magnum handgun and 10 rifles in a locked safe room hidden by a bookshelf, the affidavit states.

Robert Stuppy was suspended indefinitely from his job at Mercy Hospital earlier this week, a Mercy spokesperson Jennifer Cook said. A plan is in place for Stuppy's patients to be taken care of, Cook said Friday.
