The University of Arkansas Clinton School of Public Service has announced its public lecture series schedule for October.
The schedule is:
• 12 p.m., Oct. 3: A panel on how preservation efforts can be a catalyst for revitalizing neighborhoods and communities.
• 12 p.m., Oct. 4: Dr. Carlos Rodriguez-Diaz, a former Researcher in Residence and Visiting Philanthropy Faculty Scholar for the Clinton School's Center on Community Philanthropy, will explore the role of race in emerging response and recovery efforts in the aftermath of Hurricanes Irma and Maria in Puerto Rico.
• 12 p.m., Oct. 5: Joe David Rice, who worked as Arkansas' tourism director for 30 years, will talk about exploring the Arkansas countryside and unearthing lesser-known tidbits that make the state so special.
• 12 p.m., Oct. 8: A group of advocates and organizers inspired by the power of story will share their experiences in a discussion entitled "Stories that Change Hearts, Minds and Policies." (In partnership with the Winthrop Rockefeller Foundation.)
• 12 p.m., Oct. 10: A panel discussion led by "Save the Parks" campaign director Ben Combs will focus on the legal challenge and 1991-92 election campaign that prevented highway development in the Riverdale area and led to support for initiatives that included the Big Dam Bridge, Two Rivers Bridge and other public parks and trails. (In partnership with the Central Arkansas Library System.)
• 12 p.m., Oct. 11: Dwayne Estes, executive director of the Southeastern Grasslands Initiative, will talk about the loss of grasslands, which he says is the single greatest conservation issue facing eastern North American biodiversity.
• 12 p.m., Oct. 17: Author Debby Schriver will talk about interviews she did with members and children of the Tony Alamo Christian Ministries organization.
• 6 p.m., Oct. 18: Ken Thomas, a White House reporter with The Associated Press, will discuss the White House and the 2018 midterm elections.
• 6 p.m., Oct. 22: Raymond Arsenault will talk about Arthur Ashe, the tennis player and civil-rights leader. Arsenault, the John Hope Franklin Professor of Southern History at the University of South Florida, wrote the book Arthur Ashe: A Life.
• 6 p.m., Oct. 25: Mark Updegrove, a presidential historian, talks about his book, The Last Republicans, a look at the lives of George H.W. Bush and George W. Bush -- their influences; their perspectives on each other's presidencies; their views on family, public service, and America's role in the world; and their thoughts on President Donald Trump and the Republican Party's transformation.
• 12 p.m., Oct. 30: The Women's Foundation of Arkansas and the Clinton School will jointly host a panel discussion with Arkansas businesses that are examining strategies to achieve equity in the workplace. The panel will address four Clinton School students' work with the Women's Foundation to research models and best practices from other cities and states.
• 6 p.m., Oct. 30: Alex Holland will discuss working with others to help community leaders in an eight-state region of the Delta. Holland focused her efforts on establishing public-private partnerships, supporting workforce training, fostering place-based development, and capacity building for state and local elected officials.

The speakers will appear at Sturgis Hall -- the former Choctaw Railway building -- at the Clinton Presidential Center complex, 1200 President Clinton Ave. in Little Rock.
