The annual Sherwood Fest Conquer the Climb 5K begins at 8 a.m. Saturday at Sherwood Forest, 1111 W. Maryland Avenue in Sherwood.
Runners and walkers will start and finish in Sherwood Forest, but the route -- which includes a goodly hill on the way home -- will use Dee Jay Hudson Drive and other quiet roads near the city sports complex and Sylvan Hills Elementary School. There is one block along Arkansas 107.
A family 1K walk/run will begin about 9 a.m.
Organized by the Rotary Club of Sherwood, the footrace is part of the 42nd annual Sherwood Fest with music, food, demonstrations all day.
5K registration costs $25 ($15 for ages 18 and younger) and can be placed online through webscorer.com. Search for the race by name. Online registration closes at 11:59 p.m. Friday.
Registration for the family 1K will cost $10. Race-day registration will be at Sherwood Forest.
Teams of 10 of more can contact race director Kyle Blakely for a discount; email [email protected].
EBird
Dan Scheiman, Audubon Arkansas' bird conservation director and volunteer reviewer for eBird, is offering three webinars on how to report bird sightings to the database. Each webinar costs $15 and will be conducted using the Zoom Meeting platform.
From 6:30-8:30 p.m. Wednesday, he will show participants how to submit a checklist and how to use eBird to find birds and good places to spot them. He'll repeat the same class from 10 to noon Saturday.
The third class, 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Oct. 3, will cover other functions of eBird and answer questions submitted in advance.
