Child's gun death at Little Rock home called accidental

The 5-year-old child who died Saturday night of a gunshot wound accidentally shot and killed himself with a gun he found in his home, Little Rock police said Sunday.

Officers were called about 8 p.m. Saturday to 5207 Wycliffe Drive in southwest Little Rock, where the boy -- whose name, Brennen Esau, was released on Sunday -- was found critically injured. A police spokesman, Lt. Michael Ford, later confirmed the child had died.

No adults were at home at the time of the shooting, Ford said, but the child was with three siblings, aged 14, 10 and 6.
