After a long hot summer when the cable networks and streaming services have labored to keep us occupied, the broadcast networks are finally ready to unleash their new fall shows.
A couple of series have already debuted, but the official new season begins Monday and extends this year all the way to Oct. 26 when NBC rolls out its last new show.
Many viewers are excited about the return of their favorites, and a few new series, such as the Roseanne-less Roseanne spinoff The Conners, are creating a buzz.

Nostalgia will play a part this season with several reboots and revivals. These include Murphy Brown, Magnum P.I. and Charmed.
In addition, ABC's briefly canceled Last Man Standing has been given new life on Fox -- good news for Tim Allen fans.
Here's a rundown of the broadcast networks' 2018 fall season between Monday and Oct. 26 with the new series in boldface. Check out the sidebar for a brief overview of what's being held for midseason and a reminder of the shows that got the ax last season.
Today:
7 p.m. -- 9-1-1 (Fox, early premiere)
Monday:

Notes:
Magnum P.I. stars Jay Hernandez as Thomas Magnum in this reboot of the classic Tom Selleck private eye series set in Hawaii. This time around, Higgins is a lady.
Manifest is a drama about the passengers on a mysterious flight that lands after a few hours to find that five years have passed and the world had given them up for dead. The series will remind some of Lost.
The Big Bang Theory will wrap things up after this season (No. 12). It will end as the longest-running multicamera series in TV history.
Tuesday:

FBI is yet another ensemble drama from Dick Wolf. It features Missy Peregrym (Rookie Blue) and Jeremy Sisto (Suburgatory) as FBI agents in the New York office.
New Amsterdam is a hospital drama centering on the new maverick crusading medical director, Dr. Max Goodwin (Ryan Eggold).
Wednesday:

Single Parents is an ensemble comedy that follows a group of struggling single parents attempting to raise their 7-year-olds.
A Million Little Things is about a group of friends in Boston who feel their lives are in a rut after one of them dies.

God Friended Me is a comedy/drama about an atheist (Brandon Micheal Hall) who receives a friend request on social media from God and unwittingly becomes an agent of positive change in the lives of those around him.
Rel, which had a sneak peek Sept. 9, settles into its regular time slot here. The comedy stars Lil Rel Howery as a man trying to start life over after his wife has an affair.

Notes:
The Neighborhood is a comedy starring Cedric The Entertainer as a black guy set in his ways having to deal with the arrival of a very friendly and very white new neighbor (Max Greenfield).
Happy Together is a sitcom starring Damon Wayans Jr. and Amber Stevens West as a boring couple whose life changes dramatically when a young pop star (Felix Mallard) moves in with them.

The Kids Are Alright is an ensemble comedy set in the '70s and follows a traditional Irish-Catholic family with eight boys and one bathroom. Michael Cudlitz (The Walking Dead) and Mary McCormack (In Plain Sight) are the well-meaning parents.
The Rookie is a cop drama starring Nathan Fillion as the oldest rookie in the Los Angeles Police Department.

Notes:
Legacies is a spinoff of The Originals and follows 17-year-old "tribrid" Hope Mikaelson (Danielle Rose Russell) as she attends the Salvatore School for the Young and Gifted where she learns to control her supernatural abilities.
