Petition: Void bond in student abuse case

Suspect contacted minor, filing states

The Scott County prosecutor is seeking to revoke the bond of a former Waldron Middle School assistant principal, accusing her of contacting the minor student with whom she is charged with having sex.

Deputy prosecutor Mark Johnson filed the petition last week in Scott County Circuit Court to revoke the bond of Jessica Williams, 37, of Boles for violating the condition of the $100,000 bond she posted shortly after her arrest Aug. 14.

Williams is charged with five counts of first-degree sexual assault and one count of tampering with physical evidence, all felonies. If convicted, she could be sentenced to up to 30 years in prison on a sexual-assault count and up to six years on the tampering charge.

Court records show one of the conditions of her release was not to have contact with anyone younger than 18, other than her children. The petition filed by Johnson did not specify how Williams violated her bond other than she "contacted the underage victim."

Williams' attorney, Ernie Witt of Ozark, filed a response Monday to the state's petition. The response denied the allegations that Williams violated her bond conditions and asked that the petition be dismissed.

An affidavit by Waldron police detective Horacio Gonzalez said Williams confessed to having sex with a 16-year-old male student and exchanged sexual photos with him.

The affidavit also said Williams "factory-reset" her cellphone when Gonzalez went to seize it. A factory reset will erase all data on the phone, according androidcentral.com.

The affidavit said Gonzalez was notified Aug. 13 that an anonymous letter was sent to the Waldron Public School central office that said the minor student disclosed to several people that he'd had sex with Williams and that they exchanged sexual pictures of themselves.

With his mother present, the student told Gonzalez that he and Williams had become acquainted during the 2017-18 school year through social media and they exchanged the sexual pictures, according to the affidavit. During the summer, the two had sex 15 to 20 times and communicated by cellphone, the student told Gonzalez.

When Gonzalez went to seize Williams' phone, the affidavit said, Williams asked to make a phone call first to tell her family she would not have her phone. Stepping out of the office, Gonzalez wrote, Williams factory-reset her phone.
