Jackrabbits run all over Golden Lions

South Dakota State scored twice within 40 seconds of the first quarter and never let up in their 90-6 rout of Arkansas-Pine Bluff on Saturday at Dyhouse Stadium in Brookings, S.D.

South Dakota State quarterback Taryn Christion was 13-of-14 passing for 332 yards and 5 touchdowns playing just the first half to lead the onslaught. As a team, the Jackrabbits threw for 8 touchdowns and 557 yards of their 926 yards of total offense. Issac Wallace had 192 yards rushing on 5 attempts and 2 touchdowns for South Dakota State which got 2 touchdown runs from Mikey Daniel.

Cade Johnson had 5 receptions for 162 yards and 2 touchdowns for the Jackrabbits who got 128 yards receiving and a score on 4 catches from Adam Anderson.

The Jackrabbits, the No. 3 team in the Football Championship Subdivision, scored on their first possession, two plays after a Marquise Lewis 29-yard punt return gave them the ball at the UAPB 13. The score came on Christion's 20-yard touchdown pass to Blake Kunz with 12:46 left in the opening quarter.

UAPB fumbled on the second play after the ensuing kickoff and South Dakota State recovered at the Golden Lions' 31. Christon's 31-yard touchdown pass to Anderson on the first play made it 14-0 with 12:06 left in the first quarter.

South Dakota State led 28-6 after the first quarter, 49-6 at halftime and 70-6 after the third quarter.

UAPB scored twice in the opening quarter on two Jamie Gillan field goals (47, 20).

The Golden Lions had 310 yards of total offense, led by running back Teyler Porter's 106 yards on 21 attempts.

Roger Totten had 131 yards passing through the air on 9 of 21 attempts. He also threw two interceptions.

South Dakota State outgained the Golden Lions 450-257 in the first half.
