The Back 40 trail in Bella Vista designed for the entire family to ride.

A common parking area at Blowing Spring Park, 948 Blowing Springs Rd in Bella Vista, serves at the trail head for the Back 40.

The 23 mile loop is a gorgeous area according to Kelly Williams, board member of the Friends of the Arkansas Single Track mountain bike club and director of the National Mountain Bike Patrol. The trail has many fun sections and some hills, added Williams.

Anyone can ride the Back 40 since it does not have any technical sections, Williams said.

"One thing to keep in mind that most of us that ride here in the Back 40, use a reinforced tire on the sidewalls because we have sharp rocks," Williams said.

The Back 40 Loop is the backbone of the growing Back 40 trail system. Other trails branch off from the main loop, with options to challenge riders of all ability levels.

Nine trailheads offer easy access to the trails, including the neighboring trail systems at Blowing Springs Park and Lake Bella Vista park. Riders can access the Razorback Regional Greenway at Lake Bella Vista, which connects to the nearby Slaughter Pen Trails and downtown Bentonville."

Trailheads in the Back 40 system include Bear Hollow Trailhead, Tower Trailhead, Buckingham Trailhead, Lake Ann Trailhead and Metsfield Skills Park.
