An Arkansas Department of Correction inmate died Thursday of an apparent suicide, a spokesman for the agency said.

About 7:15 a.m., other prisoners discovered 39-year-old Eric Fouth hanging in the boiler room of the North Central Unit in Calico Rock, where he was assigned to work, agency spokesman Solomon Graves said in a news release.

Fouth was pronounced dead at an area hospital at 8 a.m. after receiving emergency medical treatment at the prison, Graves said.

Records show Fouth was serving a 30-year sentence for residential burglary out of Pulaski County.

Arkansas State Police and the Department of Correction will conduct separate investigations into the death, the release states.
