One person was transported by helicopter to a hospital Tuesday morning after being injured in a shooting in Hot Springs, authorities said.

The name and age of the female victim have not been released, but Hot Springs Police Department spokesman Joey Williams said she was in serious condition at UAMS Medical Center in Little Rock later that day.

Williams added that a 37-year-old man, identified as Nelson Green III of Hot Springs National Park, was arrested and charged with violation of a no contact order. Jail records list his name as Nelson Green Johnson. Calls to verify which name was correct were not immediately returned Tuesday.

Records show he was booked at 2 p.m. into the Garland County jail, and no bail had been set.

Detectives are investigating the shooting as a possible case of domestic violence, Williams said.

Officers responded at 7:30 a.m. to gunfire at Lakepark Drive and Carpenter Dam Road, according to a Facebook post from the city's Police Department.

An investigation is ongoing.
