Smackover forfeits opening victory

Smackover forfeited its season-opening victory over Foreman from Aug. 27 on Friday because of the use of an ineligible player.

The Arkansas Activities Association announced the forfeit in a statement.

Smackover defeated Foreman, the 2017 Class 2A state champion, 45-27 at Wilkins Stadium on the Southern Arkansas University campus in Magnolia.

With the forfeit, Smackover is 1-1, while Foreman entered Friday's game against Parkers Chapel 0-1. Smackover did not play Friday because of Hampton's low numbers caused by 17 ejections in its Aug. 31 game at Drew Central.
