A 48-year-old man sentenced to prison in 2014 died after being found unresponsive in his barracks Sunday afternoon, authorities said.

Harrison Flanery is the second inmate to die at the Tucker Unit this month. Two other inmates have also died this month at the nearby Maximum Security Unit, which is also in Tucker.

Solomon Graves, a spokesman for the Arkansas Department of Correction, said Flanery was found unresponsive during a security check and was pronounced dead less than half an hour later.

Arkansas State Police and the Department of Correction are both investigating the death. Graves said "all possible causes are being looked into," but all four deaths at the two units remain open cases.

Flanery was sentenced to 15 years in prison in 2014 on a charge of first-degree sexual assault out of Greene County, records show.

On Oct. 14, William Turner, 46, died a short time after being found unresponsive in his barracks at the Tucker Unit. On Oct. 21, David Mulkey, 49, died after being found unresponsive in his cell at the Maximum Security Unit. Four days later at the same prison, Dan Shelton, 54, died a short time after being found unresponsive.

In August, five prisoners died at the prison agency's Varner Unit over four days, and officials said at the time that those deaths were believed to be drug-related.
