Boston Red Sox outfielder Mookie Betts' stolen base in Game 1 of the World Series on Tuesday means that Taco Bell will give away free Doritos Locos Tacos.

Don't expect his teammate Brock Holt to take advantage of the promotion, which is scheduled for Nov. 1 from 2-6 p.m. Central time.

"I haven't eaten Taco Bell in probably 10 years," Holt told Masslive.com. "So yeah, I'll probably stay away from the free taco. I'll let everyone else get it."

Instead, Holt prefers Chipotle.

"I would have to take my son there," Holt said. "Because he loves Chipotle. He crushes it. So he's 2 years old, and he eats a whole Chipotle bowl by himself. So I would have to give him my free Chipotle.

"But yeah, Taco Bell, I'm going to stay away from Taco Bell. You'll end up on the toilet all night."

No deal

In an interview with Sports Illustrated's Chris Ballard, former NBA commissioner David Stern recalled when he vetoed a 2011 trade that would have sent Chris Paul from the then-New Orleans Hornets to the Los Angeles Lakers.

Stern was the owners' representative for the league-owned Hornets at the time.

"[Hornets General Manager Dell Demps] had agreed to [trade Paul to the Lakers for] Kevin Martin and Luis Scola or something, and I said we can do better than that," Stern said. "And the next trade was [to the Clippers for] Eric Gordon and Al-Farouq Aminu and what we thought was a really great draft pick, the 10th pick, which turned out to be Austin Rivers. At least those three and someone else [center Chris Kaman]. But Dell Demps is a lousy general manager, and none of those players are currently with the team anymore, and he may lose Anthony Davis.

"I did it because I was protecting the then Hornets. To this day everyone always asks me, 'Well, why did you keep Chris Paul from going to the Lakers?' I didn't keep him. I didn't approve the trade. No team sells or trades a future Hall of Famer without the owner signing off, and I was the owner's rep."

From Chris Bengel of CBSSports.com: "Time will tell if Stern is actually right in thinking that there's a chance that Davis leaves New Orleans. However, it's definitely clear what he thinks of Demps as a general manager."

He said it

From Dwight Perry of the Seattle Times:

• "Experts say a rare 1792 U.S. penny set to go on the auction block in Baltimore this month could fetch $1 million. In a related story, Steelers holdout Le'Veon Bell is now demanding his franchise tag be paid in 1792 U.S. pennies."

• "Golden State star Klay Thompson says he'd like to see five Warriors make Team USA. So which happens first: five Warriors on Team USA -- or the entire Team USA roster on the Warriors?"

• "Florida Atlantic Coach Lane Kiffin has offered a scholarship to Matt Leinart's son Cole -- a 5-foot-7, 11-year-old sixth-grader. The NCAA is already looking into that shiny new bicycle he's suddenly riding to school."
