Accusation is not same as evidence of a crime

Mike Cooper in a letter to the editor (Oct. 12) said “we have two accused Republican sex offenders as Supreme Court justices, and one Republican multiple-accused sex offender … as president.” The key word is “accused.” Many are falsely accused. Jesus was one of those. So, are you going to condemn Him also? Until there is evidence proving the accusation, it is just that, an accusation, which anyone is free to make. One of the things that I hate is when someone locally is accused of a sex crime, their picture, name and information is published for all to see before any proof has been established. That person’s reputation is ruined even when they are innocent. What has happened to “innocent until proven guilty?” My family values are that sex offenders are evil, but not until proven guilty. I don’t find that strange. When a woman has been violated, they definitely should come forward — with proof.
