Ostomates

The Northwest Arkansas Ostomy Support Group will meet at 2 p.m. Oct. 21 at Hope Cancer Resources, 5835 W. Sunset Ave. in Springdale. Diana Gallagher will be leading a discussion on "Living Your Life to the Fullest." There will be an educational meeting beginning at 1 p.m.

Naturalists

The Northwest Arkansas Master Naturalists general meeting will be at 2 p.m. Oct. 21 at Lake Fort Smith State Park. The meeting is open to the public.

Featured speaker is Jamie Brandon, research station archaeologist with the Arkansas Archaeological Survey, responsible for counties in Northwest Arkansas and most of the Arkansas Ozarks. He is also an associate research professor of anthropology at the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville. He is leading a multi-year research project to investigate bluff shelter sites across the Ozarks and will speak about these shelters.

Cut-Ups

Calico Cut-Ups is a quilt guild, providing programs of interest for all levels of quilters from beginners to expert. The guild will meet at 1 p.m. Oct. 22 at First United Methodist Church, 20 Boyce Drive in Bella Vista. The program will be "Because It's Applique," presented by Jenifer Dick of Harrisonville, Mo. Dick began quilting in 1993 when, on a whim, she took a beginning quilting class. In 2001, she discovered applique, and it changed her quilting life.

There is no fee for first-time guests. Membership is $25 per year.

Genealogists

The Northwest Arkansas Genealogical Society will meet at 6 p.m. Oct. 22 at the Bentonville Public Library. A video called "A DNA Match With No Tree" with Diahan Southard and Lisa Louise Cooke will be shown. Everyone is welcome.

Radio Club

The Hogville Amateur Radio Club will meet at 7 p.m. Oct. 22 at Springdale Fire Station No. 1, 417 Holcomb St. Tem Moore, amateur radio operator (N5KWL), will give a presentation on the setup, care, use, maintenance and cost of radio repeaters and links. The public is invited to attend.

Gardeners

The Bentonville Garden Club will meet at 12:30 p.m. Oct. 23 at the Circle of Life Hospice Home at Legacy Village. The program for October will be preparing for the annual Bentonville Garden Club Holiday Luncheon.

Stroke Support

The Different Strokes/Different Folks support group meets the fourth Tuesday of each month, except December, at the Bella Vista Lutheran Church. All stroke or traumatic brain injury survivors, their families, friends and caregivers are welcome to attend.

The next meeting will be held from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Oct. 23. Special guests will be Mayor Peter Christie and Tom Judson, BV POA chief operating officer. The discussion will include accessibility in the city and POA facilities. All are welcome to join the discussion.

Civil War

The Northwest Arkansas Civil War Roundtable will meet at 7 p.m. Oct. 25 in the General Store building on the campus of the Shiloh Museum of Ozark History, 118 W. Johnson Ave. in Springdale.

The program will be presented by Kim Nazario and Terral Shields, who will be displaying and telling the stories behind some original Civil War weapons.

The meeting is open to anyone with an interest in Civil War history.

Stage IV

Hope Cancer Resources offers a support group for men and women living with any type of stage IV cancer. This month's meeting is from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Oct. 26 at Hope Cancer Resources, 5835 W. Sunset Ave. in Springdale. Members must RSVP to attend.

Photographers

The Bella Vista/Bentonville Photography Club members will be focusing this next month on "Fall Colors" for November's monthly photography contest. A club outing to Boxley Valley to photograph the elk as well as autumn colors will take place on Oct. 27.

The club's Fall Print Show will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Nov. 3 at the Bella Vista Country Club. The public is welcome to stop by and view winning photographs and vote for "best in show."

The next meeting of the club will be held on Nov. 27with a shared meal celebrating the club's end-of-year activities.

Myeloma

Hope Cancer Resources offers a new support group for myeloma patients, caregivers and loved ones. The Northwest Arkansas Myeloma Support Group will be co-facilitated by a 22-year survivor and will provide education, support and the opportunity to share personal experiences. The group meets from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Nov. 6 at Hope Cancer Resources, 5835 W. Sunset Ave. in Springdale.

Alzheimer's

Alzheimer's Association community educator Brandi Schneider will present "Understanding Alzheimer's and Dementia" at 10 a.m.Nov. 14 in the Rotary Room at Bentonville Public Library. This course is intended to educate the community about the impact of Alzheimer's, the difference between Alzheimer's and dementia, Alzheimer's disease stages and risk factors, and additional Alzheimer's Association resources.

Noon Kiwanis

The Rogers Noon Kiwanis Club offers poinsettias for sale now through Nov. 15. These plants range from a 6-inch to 10-inch pot, with prices beginning at $10. Rogers Noon Kiwanis meets at 11:30 a.m. every Wednesday at Johnny Carino's.
