A muzzleloading rifle for any taste

Hunters can choose from multiple styles of muzzleloading rifles to suit any preference.

A traditional sidelock model uses a percussion cap or flint to ignite a primer charge. These rifles are usually built from kits and finished by hand.

The first inline rifles used a plunger-style igniter. It is primitive compared to newer styles, but it is very dependable and still very popular. The rifles are inexpensive, accurate and easy to maintain.

Some, like the Knight MK-85, have interchangeable plungers that allow you to use percussion caps or shotgun primers.

The break-over style like that used by CVA is the most popular modern rifle. The barrel rolls away from the receiver on a hinge and allows direct access to the breech plug. This makes it easy to remove spent primers and install fresh primers quickly, which speeds the reloading process.

Some rifles like those made by Knight, Remington and Ruger employ strikers that are housed and cocked within a regular bolt-action.

The Thompson/Center Omega uses a falling block action, and the Knight KRB7 even has a trapdoor style action.

Their commonality is that they are all fun to shoot.
