BENTONVILLE -- A candidate for Benton County justice of the peace was arrested Wednesday in connection with forgery.

Parker Henry Zielinski, 38, of Rogers was booked at 5:17 p.m. Tuesday into the jail. His bond is set at $4,500.

Prosecutors haven't filed a formal charge against Zielinski.

Zielinski is running as a Democrat for Benton County Justice of the Peace District 5. His opponent is Carrie Smith, a Republican.

A Rogers police officer arrested Zielinski after a traffic stop, according to court documents. The officer discovered the car's license plate was reportedly linked to a shoplifting case.

Zielinski gave police permission to search his vehicle, and the officer found 19 counterfeit $100 bills in a bag in the car's glove compartment, according to court documents. Zielinski told police the money was purchased online for his son as a game, according to the affidavit.

Zielinski's arraignment is scheduled for 8 a.m. Nov. 26 in Benton County Circuit Judge Brad Karren's courtroom.
