Siloam Springs day care operators accused of drug crimes

SILOAM SPRINGS -- The operators of Little Darlings Day Care were arrested Sunday in connection with drug charges.

Siloam Springs police officers went Sunday to the home of Wayne and Barbara Hartley at 1110 Country Lane for a welfare check on the occupants, according to a police department news release. The Hartleys ran the day care out of their home.

Police observed what they believed were marijuana plants, and after getting a search warrant officers seized 13 harvested marijuana plants; 2 pounds of marijuana; 19 firearms; 75 grams of Kratom and more that $31,000 in cash, according to the news release.

The Hartleys were being held Monday in the Benton County Jail after being arrested in connection with manufacturing a controlled substance, possession with intent to deliver, simultaneous possession of drugs and firearms and possession of a controlled substance.

Detectives are also looking into any potential child endangerment charges. Police are asking anyone with children who attended the day care to contact police.
