FAYETTEVILLE -- Adam Flores, 28, of Siloam Springs was sentenced Friday to 10 years in federal prison, followed by three years supervised release on one count of a felon in possession of a firearm, according to a news release.

Flores pleaded guilty in June in U.S. District Court to one count of felon in possession of a firearm.

A Benton County Sheriff's Office deputy stopped Flores on Feb. 17 when the license plate on the vehicle he was driving did not match the car, according to federal officials. The deputy saw a shotgun wedged between the driver's seat and the door during the traffic stop.

When the deputy asked Flores why he had not mentioned he had a firearm in his possession, Flores displayed a pistol and fled the scene. He was arrested after a chase.
