FOOTBALL

Second-half surge lifts Hendrix

Hendrix College went on a 20-0 run in the second half to beat Rhodes 30-20 on Saturday in Memphis.

Trailing 14-10 at halftime, Hendrix took the lead on a 37-yard touchdown run by Deondre Henry with 8:35 left in the third quarter to put the Warriors up 17-14. At the 5:59 mark, Austin O'Brien scored from 1 yard out to make it 24-14.

Sandy Burks added field goals of 40 and 44 yards in the fourth quarter to make it 30-14 with 8:47 left before Josh Lucas caught a 33-yard touchdown pass from P.J. Settles with 5:35 left to set the final margin.

Kip VanHoose led Hendrix with 98 yards rushing on 17 carries, while Henry added 95 yards on 12 carries.

Hendrix (2-7, 1-6 Southern Athletic Association) rushed for 200 yards on 36 attempts. Rhodes falls to 4-5 and 2-5.

Late TD drops Lyon

Donovan Isom threw an 18-yard touchdown pass to Collier Ricks with 6:54 left in the game to give Texas Wesleyan a 21-20 victory over Lyon College on Saturday in Fort Worth.

The touchdown came after Lyon scored 10 points in the final 3:02 of the third quarter. Spencer Childress had a 1-yard touchdown run to put Lyon up 17-14, then Ignacio Gomez kicked a 20-yard field goal for a 20-14 Lyon lead.

Isom led Texas Wesleyan (2-7, 2-5 Sooner Athletic Conference) by completing 21 of 39 passes for 240 yards and 3 touchdowns. Childress completed 10 of 23 passes for 127 yards with 1 touchdown and 2 interceptions. Jared Puamau rushed for 79 yards on 13 carries for Lyon (3-6, 2-5).

SAU finishes third in conference meet

Southern Arkansas University finished third in the Great American Conference meet in Edmond, Okla., on Saturday.

The Muleriders finished with 68 points, trailing East Central (Okla.) with 25 and Oklahoma Baptist with 48.

Harding University had 89 points, Southern Nazarene 146, Northwestern Oklahoma State 155 and the University of Arkansas-Monticello 211.

Southern Arkansas' Bradyn Gower finished eighth in the 8,000-meter race with a time of 26 minutes, 11.9 seconds. Teammates Lane Alexander (26:19.4) and Anthony Vasquez (26:20.3) finished ninth and 10th. Harding's Dylan Douglas finished 11th (26:21.0).

UAFS finishes eighth in Heartland meet

The University of Arkansas at Fort Smith finished eighth in the Heartland Conference meet in Laredo, Texas.

The Lions had 224 points. Dallas Baptist, which had six runners finish in the top 10, won the meet with 19 points. Lubbock Christian was second with 82 points.

Individually, Will Myers of UAFS finished 34th in the 77-runner field with a time of 27 minutes, 0.4 seconds.

WOMEN'S CROSS COUNTRY

Harding takes second in GAC

Harding University finished second with 65 points behind Oklahoma Baptist's 21 points in the Great American Conference meet in Edmond, Okla.

East Central (Okla.) was third with 68 points, and Southern Arkansas University was fourth at 139, followed by Southeastern Oklahoma State with 148. Southern Nazarene was sixth with 174, with Arkansas Tech University finishing eight with 206. Northwestern Oklahoma State had 214 followed by Ouachita Baptist University (232), Henderson State University (286) and the University of Arkansas-Monticello (320).

Harding's Alicja Minczuk finished third in 18 minutes, 25.8 seconds behind Oklahoma Baptist's Kaylee Crowson (18:14.8) and Sydney Lawrence (18:17.2) on the 5,000-meter course. Harding's Sydney Tabor finished 12th (19:07.0) and Sharon Chepseba was 15th (19:14.3). Southern Arkansas' Carley Hale was 16th (19:26.6).

UAFS finishes eighth in conference

The University of Arkansas at Fort Smith finished eighth with 216 points in the Heartland Conference meet in Laredo, Texas.

Dallas Baptist, which had four runners finish in the top 10, won with 26 points. Lubbock Christian was second with 70 points.

Kandace Young of UAFS finished 26th with a time of 23 minutes, 31.8 seconds on the 6,000-meter course.

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL

Lyon falls to William Penn

William Penn's Brenda Pennington made two free throws in the last 20 seconds to give William Penn a 62-58 victory over Lyon College at the Grand Valley Classic in Des Moines, Iowa, on Saturday.

Lyon, which trailed 51-39 after an 11-0 run by William Penn early in the fourth quarter, closed to 60-58 on a three-pointer by Ali Tucker with 21 seconds left.

Tucker led Lyon (0-1) with 17 points.

VOLLEYBALL

Central Arkansas downs Sam Houston

Haley Tippett led the University of Central Arkansas with 17 kills and 13 digs as the Bears defeated Sam Houston State 25-21, 25-11, 13-25, 25-22 on Saturday in Conway.

Elizabeth Armstrong had 24 assists and Emily Doss had 22 digs for the Bears (22-5, 12-2 Southland Conference).

Breanne Chausse led Sam Houston State (20-7, 12-3) with 15 kills.

Lyon loses to Columbia College

Lyon College lost to Columbia College 25-14, 25-10, 25-13 on Saturday in Batesville.

Lyon (17-18, 5-7 American Midwest Conference) was led by Michayla Shanks and Gracen Ratliff, who had six kills apiece. Madisson Williams had six digs.

MEN'S SOCCER

Lyon College advances in AMC Tournament

Emanuel Santos scored both goals for Lyon College in a 2-0 victory over Williams Baptist College in the quarterfinals of the American Midwest Conference Tournament in Batesville on Saturday.

Lyon (10-7, 7-4) will meet either Columbia College or Hannibal-LaGrange in the semifinals Tuesday. Williams Baptist finishes the season at 9-8-1 and 6-5 in conference.

Vicente Alamos made three saves for Lyon, which was outshot 12-11.
