BENTONVILLE -- A local judge ordered a Bentonville woman be held on $750,000 bond in connection with killing her grandmother.

Judge Robin Green found Wednesday that there is probable cause to hold Andrea Lea Wilson, 26, for capital murder and tampering with evidence.

She is accused of killing Ruby Ross, her 81-year-old grandmother. Ross' body was found in her home at 11001 Blue Jay Road in Pea Ridge last week.

The medical examiner determined that her death was caused by blunt force trauma to her head.

Wilson was arrested Monday by Benton County sheriff's deputies.

Benton County Prosecutor Nathan Smith, citing the severity of the charges and the likelihood of Wilson's conviction, requested that Wilson be held without bond in jail.

Jay Saxton, Benton County's chief public defender, represented Wilson at the bond hearing and requested a $100,000 bond be set.

"I don't think she has a criminal history," Saxton said.

Smith told the judge that Wilson has traveled out of the country and if a bond is set he then wanted her to surrender her passport.

Wilson said she went to Brazil several years ago and also had lived years ago with her father in Tennessee.

Green said there is a strong case against Wilson and the judge said Ross was in her bed at the time of the crime.

The judge set Wilson's bond at $750,000.

Wilson's arraignment is set for 8 a.m. June 18.
