UPDATE: Teenage boy who drowned at Prairie Creek was student at Bentonville High School

UPDATE 5:30 PM: Raymond Vaughns is the boy who drowned Sunday, according to the Benton County Sheriff's Office.

UPDATE 12:50 p.m.: A teenage boy who drowned Sunday at the Prairie Creek swim area was a sophomore at Bentonville High School. He joined the Bentonville School District in January, according to Leslee Wright, the district’s director of communications. The school has counselors on hand for any students or staff members who need to talk to someone about the boy’s death, Wright said.The district is not releasing the boy’s name.

BENTONVILLE -- The body of 16-year-old boy was recovered Sunday after he drowned at the Prairie Creek swim area.

Sgt. Shannon Jenkins, the spokesperson for the Benton County Sheriff's Office, confirmed the teen was swimming and drowned.

The dive team for the Sheriff's Office recovered the teen's body, Jenkins said.

Jenkins said they were not yet releasing the teen's name or any other information concerning the drowning.
