AND THEY'RE OFF!

Hats off to guests of 'racing' benefit

Beautiful hats were all the rage May 5 at Southern Silks, a Kentucky Derby-style party benefiting Methodist Family Health.

Held at the Metroplex, the event featured races where guests mounted hobby horses and attendees bet on the jockey to win, place or show. Prizes included weekend vacations and dining packages.

Guests sipped mint juleps while admiring the ornate wide-brim hats and fancy fascinators. One show-stopping hat was a wide-brim covered in 2 1/2 dozen live red roses worn by Susan Elliott.

Money raised at the event will be used to renovate the kitchen at Methodist Family Health's location on Fillmore Street. Methodist Family Health provides psychiatric and behavioral health care to children and families throughout Arkansas. The organization serves thousands of clients in inpatient, residential and outpatient care.
