LR police identify man shot in thigh

Police in Little Rock have identified the 18-year-old who was injured in gunfire Wednesday night.

Officers were called shortly before 8 p.m. to the intersection of South Elm and West 17th streets, where they found Rondarius Bradley of Little Rock suffering from a gunshot wound in a thigh, according to a report from the Police Department.

Witnesses told police they were walking when a person in a green Honda rolled down the window and fired one shot. The vehicle fled north on Pine Street.

Bradley was taken to UAMS Medical Center, where he was treated for nonlife-threatening injuries, the report said.

Gunfire hits home with 2 kids inside

At least five shots were fired into a North Little Rock home with two children inside early Tuesday, authorities said.

Officers were called to a home in the 2200 block of East Second Street shortly after 2:20 a.m. and found bullet holes on the exterior and roof, according to a report from the Police Department.

Residents told authorities they were watching television in the living room when they heard gunfire coming from the road in front of their house. They said they heard five or six shots from two different guns.

Police say student unruly, arrest him

A University of Arkansas at Little Rock student was arrested Tuesday after refusing to move out of a dorm and pushing responding officers, police said.

Tyre Wright, 26, of North Little Rock faces charges of disorderly conduct and resisting arrest, according to a report from the UALR Police Department.

An officer was called at 3:20 p.m. to a residence hall in reference to an "irate student" who was "off of [his] medication."

Police said the student didn't move out and refused medical treatment. At one point Wright pushed officers while trying to leave the housing office, the report said.

Wright's name did not appear in online records for the Pulaski County jail as of Thursday morning. He has a court appearance set for June 19.

Suspect arrested in LR deli burglary

A man was arrested Thursday morning in the theft of nearly $300 worth of meat stolen from a Little Rock deli the night before, authorities said.

Deputies with the Pulaski County sheriff's office were called to Jerry's Deli, 2800 E. Dixon Road, shortly before 8 a.m. Thursday, according to a report.

The owner said security footage showed someone breaking into an external freezer behind the restaurant and taking food items. The theft happened about 9 p.m., the report said.

The burglar took a box of hamburger patties, four boxes of sausage, a slab of ribs and a box of catfish fillets -- about $275 worth of food, according to the owner.

Authorities identified the burglary suspect as Dennis Cooney, 37, who told investigators he committed the theft. He was arrested on charges of breaking and entering and property theft, records show.

The Little Rock resident was being held at the Pulaski County jail Thursday afternoon. No bail had been set.

Men took $16,000, shop owner reports

A North Little Rock auto shop owner was robbed of $16,000 by three men who threatened and followed him, he told police.

Officers were called about 6 p.m. Tuesday to Sebastian Tire Shop, 1600 E. Broadway, where the owner said he had been robbed about 9 a.m. Sunday, according to a report.

Two men had entered the business, told the shop owner they knew where he lived and demanded a payment of $40,000, the report said. They also threatened to kill him and his family if he did not pay.

The owner told the men he did not have that much money, and they said they would return to pick up the cash later in the day. The two got into a black SUV with a yellow and black license plate that was being driven by a third man, authorities said. The three returned to the shop about 7 p.m., and the owner said he gave the men $16,000, the report said.

The owner said he was driving on Interstate 40 near Conway about 5:30 p.m. Tuesday when he saw the same three people staring at him from a gray newer-model Honda passenger car..

One of the robbers was described as black and having short black dreadlocks, a beard, a tattoo that read "Ricky" on his arm and one eye missing. The owner said all three looked to be in their late 20s, were of average height and weight, spoke fluent Spanish with a "New York" accent and wore expensive clothing.

Shoplifter pulls out a pistol in LR store

A robber who stole laundry soap from a Little Rock discount store Wednesday pulled a gun on a man who confronted him, police said.

The robbery happened shortly before 1 p.m. at the Family Dollar at 3901 S. University Ave., according to a report from the Little Rock Police Department.

Authorities said the robber brandished a handgun, cocked it and pointed it at a 25-year-old man when he was told to put the soap back.

The gunman was described as black, about 5 feet 7 inches tall and weighs 145 pounds.

Safes, cash targets in 2 LR break-ins

More than $3,000 was taken from two businesses on the same Little Rock street in burglaries this week, according to police reports.

Shortly before 4 a.m. Monday, officers responded to an alarm at the Doublebee's convenience store at 10705 N. Rodney Parham Road, according to one report.

The front door was broken and a "money trail" of $40 in bills stretched from inside the store into the parking lot, police said. Officers reportedly found power wires in the back of the store that had been cut and were told by an employee that a safe containing about $2,200 was gone.

About 4 a.m. Tuesday, police were called to the McDonald's at 10201 N. Rodney Parham Road, where a manager said she found a door unlocked and the safe open. About $1,000 was taken, according to the report.

Detectives said Wednesday that they do not believe the two burglaries are connected.
