Parade for Peace

The Arkansas Poor People’s Campaign, the OMNI Center and Arkansas Nonviolence Alliance are holding a Parade for Peace from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. today, beginning at the corner of Dickson and West streets, in front of the Walton Arts Center and ending with a rally at the Town Center.

The parade will feature multiple floats dance troupes and large art projects.

The rally will feature speeches by professor Jeremy Kuzmarov, professor Martha Beck, Air Force veteran Michael Martin, Solomon Burchfield of Poor Peoples Campaign, civil rights leader D’Andre Jones, Buddhist scholar Geshe Thupten Dorjee and Clint Schnekloth of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. Music will also be provided by Still on the Hill, Jori Costello and Jacquelyn Livesay.

This event is also sponsored by Compassion Fayetteville, Women’s Action for a New Direction (WAND), and Arkansas Peace and Justice Coalition.

Goddess festival

announced

The 10th annual Fayetteville Goddess Festival is a celebration of the feminine divine, featuring concerts, workshops, rituals and more. Events are held Tuesday through Sunday at a variety of community venues noted on the website and all events are open to the public, mostly free or low-cost.

Multiple workshops and events will be held through each day and evening. The festival opens when the annual Spring Equinox Ritual takes place at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Senior Activity Center, 945 S. College Ave.

Autism Speaks

Little Greek Fresh Grill, a fast-casual Greek restaurant with an American influence, will celebrate Little Greek Week at its location at 4201 N. Shiloh Drive in Fayetteville from March 25 to 31. March 27 is “Toga Tuesday” and any customer who comes in dressed in a toga will receive a free gyro pita. No other purchase is required. Little Greek will also donate $5 for each toga-clad guest to Autism Speaks, an organization dedicated to the needs of individuals with autism.

Art Experience

hosts puppets

The Art Experience is looking for experienced puppeteers as well as “closeted” or wanna-be puppeteers to perform in Puppet Slam 2018 from 7 to 9:30 p.m. Saturday in the Fenix Gallery, 16 W. Center St. on the Fayetteville square. Puppet Slam is intended for adult audiences only, similar to a poetry slam, except performers use different types of puppets instead of poetry. Any type of puppetry is allowed (finger puppets, shadow puppets, hand puppets, marionettes, hand and rod puppets, ventriloquist figures, etc.). Performances can cover a variety of topics but should be short, about five minutes in length.

Nightbird holds

book signing

Nightbird books will hold a book signing for author Jessica Key at 1 p.m. March 30 at the book store, located at 205 W. Dickson St. in Fayetteville. Key is a Little Rock native and motivational author, inspiring many to self-reflect on their lives and make plans for a positive change.
