LOWELL — Police identified Demarkeo Clark, 24, and Terry Christian, 32, as the men who died after their truck swerved into oncoming traffic, hit a tree and burst into flames last week, Lt. Paul Pillaro, public information officer with Lowell Police Department, said Wednesday.

Police are awaiting autopsy results in hopes of finding out more about the cause of the accident, Pillaro said.

Witnesses saw the truck driving erratically after it crossed traffic before running into a tree and bursting into flames, Pillaro said. Christian, the passenger, was removed from the truck but died on the way to or at Washington Regional Medical Center, Pillaro said. Clark, the driver, died at the scene.

The accident happened near North Bloomington Street and School Avenue Thursday morning, Pillaro said.
