Club ties white bass flies

Tightlines Fly Fishers will meet March 20 at Jim's Razorback Pizza, 4093 W. Sunset, in Springdale. Social time starts at 5:30 p.m. The meeting is at 6:30. Anyone interested in fishing is welcome. Members will by tying flies for white bass fishing.

Duo wins Everett tournament

Kent Rogers and Bryan Rogers won the Everett Team Trail bass tournament Feb. 24 on Beaver Lake. They weighed five bass totaling 17.79 pounds.

Dale Marsh and Ronnie Eldridge were second with five bass at 17.48 pounds. Wes Paulin and Kevin Claypool placed third with five bass at 14.71 pounds.

Rounding out the top 10, all with five bass: Fourth, David Harp and Ron Easley, 14.4; fifth, Brit Sumter and Travis McKee, 13.95; sixth, Clint Williams and Jason Sandidge, 13.26; seventh, Justin Thompson and Kevin Thompson, 12.59; eighth, Steven Meador and Megan Meador, 12.4; eighth, Warren Edwards and Allan Shannon, 12.25; ninth, Jared Goble and Larry Walker, 12.18; 10th, John Campbell and Kevin Ceola, 11.67.

WMA turkey permits on sale

Leftover permits for spring turkey hunting on wildlife management areas are on sale by the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission. Permits are sold on a first come-first served basis at www.agfc.com.

Effort targets feral hogs

Crews from the Arkansas, Tennessee, Kentucky and Missouri recently removed 615 feral hogs on public and private land in northeast and southeast Arkansas. The hogs were removed from Trusten Holder, Cut-off Creek, Choctaw Island and Big Lake wildlife management areas and adjoining private land.

Aerial operations were conducted Feb. 26-27 and March 1-2. For short periods, the wildlife management areas were closed for public safety during the flights.
