University names a political liaison

Arkansas Tech University has hired a new government relations director.

Ashley Golleher, 33, who started in the role March 1, will earn $90,000 annually. The university has not hired a staff member in government relations since the retirement of the late Phil Jacobs on June 30, 2014, said Sam Strasner, director of university relations at Tech.

Golleher, who holds a bachelor's degree in business administration from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, is going to the university from Innovative Strategies Group LLC, where she worked as principal to build relationships between her clients and legislators and regulators, according to a news release.

She has also worked as director of communications for DBH Management Consultants and as deputy district director for Tim Griffin when he was a representative in Arkansas' 2nd Congressional District. Griffin is Arkansas' lieutenant governor.
