Shooting in parking lot of fast-food restaurant claims life of Arkansas teen

An Arkansas teen who was shot in the parking lot of a Hot Springs fast-food restaurant has died, authorities said.

According to a news release from the Hot Springs Police Department, officers responded shortly after 10:45 p.m. Wednesday to a report of a shooting victim being treated at National Park Medical Center.

Police said an investigation determined that Marlon Sanders, 18, of Hot Springs had been shot in the parking lot of McDonald's, 200 E. Grand Ave., shortly before he was taken to the hospital.

He died of his injuries at 11 a.m. Thursday, the release states. No information about a suspect was given, and the investigation is ongoing.

Police said Sanders' death is the city's first homicide of 2018.
