Arming teachers won't make anyone feel safe

I have written to our governor concerning President Donald Trump's suggestion that we arm teachers to shoot back at an active shooter that might attack their school. I find this complete and utter lunacy. I strongly oppose this suggestion. Kids are already stressed out enough by lockdown drills. Who knows what effect adding another level of danger and anxiety in school will have on them? This doesn't make me or my children feel safer. This only makes me feel more afraid to send my kids to school.

I'd like to see more done to protect my children at school, however this is not a reasonable means of protection. An armed sheriff did not deter the shooter in Parkland, Fla. I would like to see metal detectors put in schools and better locks before we even consider bringing guns into the classroom. Is that something you'd be willing to consider to keep our children safe? I sincerely hope the governor will think about it.

Benton County prosecutor not doing justice to job

It is interesting to see that Nathan Smith is running for re-election as the Benton County prosecutor. He is claiming as his successes various murder and sex crimes his office has prosecuted during his term.

I, for one, will not support him in anyway, and I will try to convince as many people as possible not to vote for him.

His office has refused to prosecute a blatant fraud and grand theft case where senior citizens were the victims. These kinds of cases don't get him the publicity he so obviously craves.

I worked with Detective Ed Williams of the Bella Vista Police Department to build a case against a fake contractor. Detective Williams presented an air-tight case to the prosecutor's office, but they were not interested. They never even contacted the victims.

What kind of public servant is this?
