Arkansas man accused of triple murder pleads not guilty

HOT SPRINGS — A west-central Arkansas man charged in the shooting deaths of three people has pleaded not guilty.

The Sentinel-Record reports that 34-year-old Nicholas Lewondowski pleaded not guilty on Tuesday in Garland County Circuit Court to all three counts of capital murder. He remains in custody without bond since his December arrest for the deaths of 40-year-old Paul Power, 46-year-old Dory Power and 60-year-old Brenda Lawson, who were all found inside a Hot Springs residence.

A probable cause affidavit says Lewondowski and three friends got into an argument Dec. 5 regarding stolen property. The affidavit includes testimony from a witness alleging Lewondowski told him he killed three people and needed help disposing the bodies.

A conviction means Lewondowski could face the death penalty or life in prison without parole on each count.
